“Serve the song.”  That’s Andy Calder’s mantra. Simple, respectful, meaningful, and supportive. That’s what makes him a favorite among singer/songwriters. Diverse playing situations, however, occasionally demand different approaches. He gets a LOT more aggressive when he’s pounding the thunder with Jane’s Addiction drummer Stephen Perkins’ Banyan, or creating dance grooves with DJ Logic, or heading into the stratosphere with eccentric hip-hop trumpet ace Willie Waldman.

Calder’s unique ability to adapt has even put him onstage and in the studio with jazz luminary Larry Coryell, Rick Danko (The Band), bluegrass heroes Ronnie and Rob McCoury, Ray White (Frank Zappa), Grammy-nominated mandolinist Matt Flinner, renowned upright bassist Rob Wasserman, and a cast of many others.

This Rocky Mountain bass player is also an accomplished educator. Jackson Hole Rock Camp is a program he co-founded in 2003, and the annual week-long program continues to attract students and instructors from all over the world! Musical heavyweights like Gregg Bissonette, Steve Bailey, Stephen Perkins, Regi Wooten, Chris Duarte, Simon Kirke, Andy Irvine, Carl Verheyen, and many others have been instructors over the years.

Rounding out Calder’s music business profile, he’s a live music/event producer, audio engineer, music booking agent, publicist, and manager. His company, World Famous Productions, handles everything from wedding bands in Jackson Hole to large outdoor festivals with groups like Grace Potter and the Nocturnals, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Blues Traveler, and many others.

A lifelong experimenter of tone, Andy Calder uses Warwick basses as his sonic platform.  Regardless of the playing situation, his Warwicks have the punch to cut through, yet they maintain the warmth to support the ensemble.  Furthermore, they play beautifully, and it certainly doesn’t hurt that they are visual works of art, too!  Whether it’s long and lonely low notes on a vocal ballad or galloping heavy metal lines, Calder’s Warwick basses handle it perfectly!
